70 Miles on Local Lanes

Howdy folks!

Welcome back to my blog.

The past week has been good for me, I've managed to get out on the bikes a few times and enjoy some country lanes.

Firstly, I took my NC750X for a spin. I decided I'd just go wherever the road took me and just enjoy it. No time limits, not worried about how many miles I would cover. The only thing I knew was, that when my pain started to get too bad, then it was time to head home.

I started off by riding down past Wilstone Reservoir and the Marsworth Reservoirs, on my way to Tring (Hertfordshire). It was a beautifully sunny day so I was pleased to be getting out. From there I headed over towards Beaconsfield and up to the Ashridge Estate, finally stopping for a rest at Ivinghoe Beacon's car park. I had a quick spot of lunch (bacon & ketchup sandwich, some chicken bites and a bottle of Coca-Cola Zero).  I took a couple of photos while stopped.

I hopped (not literally) back over the saddle, fired up the engine and took my leave. I decided I would head in the direction of Pitstone, as I always enjoy the scenery around there. Once passed Pitstone, I took the countryside route all the way up towards Leighton Buzzard, hopping on the bypass towards Wing. I quickly navigated through Wing and pointed the bike in the direction of Stewkley and Swanbourne. The scenery through this part of the ride was outstanding. Lovely green fields and twisty roads for a good few miles.
I headed on towards Winslow and then Boltoph Claydon, following on to Steeple Claydon. Once at Steeple Claydon, I got stuck at some traffic lights for a good few minutes. This gave me ample opportunity to observe the destruction HS2 was causing in the area. Beautiful scenic views destroyed, turned into bleak and grim ripped up earth, with a train track slapped onto it.

I then headed out of Steeple Claydon with the end goal to return through Aylesbury. The sky had started to become overcast and grey, so I thought it best to start to head home. Especially as I hadn't put my waterproofs on.

Once I got as far as On Yer Bike (Waddesdon), I was fairly happy I'd got enough footage for a decent video.

Later in the week, I did manage 2 short rides on my Dax 125cc. I really enjoyed my rides on that little bike. It is just so much fun to get out on. I covered about 20 miles in total, but upon filling up the fuel tank it only cost me £3.79. I remembered how many MPG the Dax could achieve. That's one of the main reasons I love the Dax, it's a cheap & affordable option, that makes being a biker accessible to more folk.

I hope you enjoy this entry. I'll be sure to update you with anymore little adventures.
